World Environment Day, 2015

World Environment Day is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is: ”7Billion dreams. One Planet. Consume with care”.

To mark WED this year 2015, Hipsters of Nature is organizing a campaign on waste segregation. Our aim to promote recycling, reusing and reducing of waste among young people. We have selected about 10 schools in the Accra Metropolis and provided them with waste containers for segregation of various type of waste such as paper, plastic, battery and organic waste. Workshops starting from April to May will be organized for the schools on Recycling, Reusing and Reducing of waste. The aim of the project is to encourage kids to raise awareness at their homes about the proper disposal of waste especially batteries and plastic bags. On WED, 10 students from each school will invited to participate in the celebration on Friday, 5th June, 2015 at Afia Beach hotel at Ministries, Accra. The school that designs the best waste containers for segregation will be awarded prizes and a certificate of participation.
